Junior Achievement of Southern Alberta
Mike
is President & C.E.O. of Junior Achievement of Southern Alberta, a
major not-for-profit organization in the southern half of the province.
He has held this position since 1993 though his association with
Junior Achievement goes back 20 years both as a volunteer business
consultant and member of the national and southern Alberta Boards of
Directors of which, immediately prior to his appointment, he was
Chairman.
In
addition to his provincial responsibilities, Mike was also a member of
the Junior Achievement of Canada National Renewal Team established to
reinvigorate the Junior Achievement movement across Canada.
Mike
is a past Chairman of the Boards of Syncrude Canada and the Tensar
Corporation of Atlanta, Georgia, and has sat on other public and private
company boards including Enbridge and other energy related companies.
Retiring
as a Senior Vice President of Gulf Canada, Mike established his own
consulting company, M.B. Enterprises, in 1989 to provide consulting
services within the energy sector.
Within
the community he is a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and
Health Council, a past trustee and chair of the Grace Hospital
Foundation and a member of the Calgary Health Trust.
He has also chaired the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal and
other major fund raising initiatives within the community.
He is Chairman of the Mount Royal College Advisory Board for the
Business and Entrepreneurial applied degree program and a member of the
University of Calgary Management Advisory Council.
Mike is married to
Jan; they have four children, seven grandchildren and counting!
