McDonald’s
Canada
For over 30 years
has been proud to provide Canadians and
guests to our country the same great taste, outstanding value and
superior service that is synonymous with the Golden Arches all over the
world.
McDonald’s first restaurant in Canada opened on June 1, 1967, in
Richmond, British Columbia. The Richmond restaurant represented the
first McDonald’s restaurant to open outside the U.S. There are now
more than 1,100 McDonald’s restaurants in Canada. McDonald’s serves
approximately three million Canadians – that’s 10 per cent of the
Canadian population – every day.
McDonald’s Canada and its franchisees employ approximately 70,000
Canadians from coast to coast, including restaurant staff, restaurant
managers, and employees at 12 regional offices and the corporate head
office in Toronto.
More than 65 per cent of McDonald’s restaurants across Canada are owned
and operated by independent franchisees. The company benefits enormously
from the ideas and enegies of these individual entrepreneurs.
