Junior Achievement of the Bahamas operates the Company Program where it began operations in 1979. Since that time they have successfully touched the lives of over 10,000 young Bahamians.  The organization operates with a staff of three.  The Bahamas have a population of 300,000 who speak English.

The staff of JA Bahamas believes that Junior Achievement has assisted greatly in building character in their youth.  In addition, the programs expose teenagers to entrepreneurship and the Bahamian Free Enterprise System.
Pirates, corsairs and privateers found the Bahamas to be a good base from which to plunder vulnerable merchant ships. Among the brigands using the islands were Edward Teach (Blackbeard), “Calico” Jack Rakham, Henry Morgan, Major Bonnet and women buccaneers such as Anne Bonney (Calico jack’s mistress) and Mary Reed.
