The Junior Achievement/Young Enterprise program in Sweden has been offering Young Enterprise programs since 1980 and is called Ung Företagsamhet.  The organization there works with a national staff of four and an additional forty throughout Sweden.  Sweden has a population of 8.9 million where Swedish is spoken.

Ung Företagsamhet is reaching over 10,000 students during the 1999/00 school year. Since 1980 65,000 students have taken part in the program.

The board and staff of Ung Företagsamhet believe that the Company Program is important for Sweden because it helps improve and ensure the future of Sweden’s trade and industry.

Sweden has one of the most ancient civilizations in Europe. Populated for more than 5,000 years, the land has been an important center of trade for millennia and played a role in both the disintegration of the Roman Empire and the founding of Russia in the 10th century.
